The Modification and Replacement Parts Association (MARPA) is proud to announce that Mike Arata, Managing Director of Project Engineering at United Airlines will serve as keynote speaker for the 2012 MARPA Conference. The MARPA Conference is the Annual Conference for the FAA-approved aircraft parts manufacturing industry. It offers aerospace manufacturing industry professionals an opportunity to meet with customers and also to learn about the latest developments in safety management. In 2012, the Conference will take place October 3-5 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
In Mike’s role as Managing Director of Project Engineering, he oversees the compliance, configuration control, and maintenance program requirements for the fleet of nearly 700 mainline aircraft. Within his group, which also includes other UA engineering teams, dedicated engineers are engaged full time in the evaluation and approvals for PMA (parts manufacturing authority) products on the fleet.
“United has a well-established and industry-leading PMA program,” Mike notes. “With the extent of in-house overhauls on engines and components conducted at United’s main base in San Francisco, it is a natural part of the business model to minimize the costs associated with this work. Our comprehensive technical oversight and approvals program is the centerpiece of our very successful PMA process.”
