Bayne Updates MARPA on IAQG Developments, Like AS9100

Ed Bayne Discusses IAQG Efforts at the 2012 MARPA Conference

At the 2012 MARPA Annual Conference, Ed Bayne of IAQG described changes being made to the AS 9100 series standards that affect manufacturing.  IAQG is currently changing the format of its standards; the AS 9100 series, which is based on ISO 9001, is therefore being updated as well.  IAQG intends that the entire 9100 series will appear in its updated form by 2015.

As changes are considered, some of the foci will be to enhance the clarity of the standards, ensure that the standards are susceptible to effective audit, and confirm that the benefits of implementation outweigh the costs of implementation.  IAQG will also review interdependent documents—those that rely on the 9100 series—to ensure agreement with the new standards.

IAQG and MARPA currently enjoy a Memorandum of Understanding to provide mutual support on projects of common interest.  We are starting to work more closely together on aviation safety and quality issues.  Members who are interested in working on an IAQG Working Group and who want to represent MARPA’s interests on such a Group, should contact MARPA for further discussions.

If you missed the 2012 MARPA Annual Conference, then you can still track MARPA’s developments and the industry and regulatory changes that affect the PMA industry by joining MARPA.
